WOMEN LED INITIATIVES

KCS uses the gender-sensitive approach to promote practical and strategic gender needs for men, women, youth and the disabled. Women are the majority and are have the greatest percentage (70%) of poor people and living in rural setting (particularly in Africa) and thus they are constrained economically, socially and culturally. This is despite their key role they play in safeguarding household resources, general family nutrition and welfare. Therefore, KCS identifies vulnerable groups such as the widowed and people living with disabilities and engages them in the following services

• Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programmes (WASH)
• Capacity building on gender mainstreaming, climate smart practices, entrepreneurship
• Economic empowerment
• Girl and boy child education and awareness
• Fight against menstrual period poverty, teenage pregnancies, sexual abuse and gender based violence
• HIV/AIDS awareness campaigns
